Camacho Engenharia is a company that designs and executes public works projects.

It started its activity in 1979, in Guimarães – the centre of Northern Portugal’s economy – both through the large industrial zones, and through the historical heritage, as well as the proximity with the touristic and residential coast.

It was by answering the needs of these three aspects of daily life in this region that Camacho Engenharia has grown and developed.

Consequently, we carry out all types of basic and road infrastructures, in industrial parks, in commercial areas, in urban areas, as well as rehabilitating historic areas in cities of national historical heritage. Camacho Engenharia has been significantly involved in the network of Portuguese infrastructures in terms of water supply and distribution, as well as the drainage of rainwater and the disposal of domestic and industrial effluents. In addition, we specialize in carrying out hydro-agricultural projects, aiming to serve and participate in the development and food autonomy of various African regions.

Internationalization took place in 2005 to respond to the scarcity of the market in Portugal and even in Europe.

In that year, we were awarded a hydro-agricultural project on the banks of the Senegal River, integrated in the rice self-sufficiency project in force in that republic of West Africa. Other projects followed, both in this context and in one of basic infrastructures and roads.

In 2009, we repeated the experience in the Republic of Mali.

Today, the presence in these two countries represents more than 80% of our activity.

2019 is a year of greater importance in Camacho’s growth and development. We have the largest turnover in our history, we have substantially increased our productive assets, “attacked” adjacent markets, restructured the company, and entered a new market – Niger.

Today, Camacho is simultaneously operating in four countries: Portugal, Senegal, Mali, and Niger. There are already strategic links in Guinea-Bissau, where we will also soon be operating. We created the idea of Grupo RC Camacho from the parent company, in Guimarães, to the various related companies in Africa.

The Group has been permanently investing in its own equipment for its activity in order to guarantee maximum autonomy.

Camacho Engenharia is based on a human resources structure with a low turnover of people. There is a significant number of employees who started and continue their professional careers in this Group.

Growth requires the integration of staff from other “schools” so as to add knowledge and, at the same time, share the Group’s strategy, which is essentially based on the recognition of quality as a distinguishing factor and, therefore, an asset.
